The Apple TV 4 is capable of supporting stereoscopic 3D apps on 3D-capable televisions, according to longtime Apple game developers Pangea Software. However, lack of 3DTV content continues to be a major problem. Disregarding some movies and PC games, our entertainment continues to be 2D and I don’t envision that changing in the near future. So if you want to play 3D content o your 3D TV via Apple TV 4, you have to prepare your own 3D movies, no matter comes from 3D Blu-ray, or downloads from torrent sites

From the main spec of the new Apple TV, we find Apple TV 4 supported formats is still limited to MP4, M4V and MOV. Thus, your local 3D movies should be 3D MOV/MP4 format if you want to successfully play 3D content on Apple TV 4. For those 3D MKV/AVI, 3D Blu-ray, you’d better convert them with a 3D converter.
